Fethiye - to Karacaören

(74 nm approximately)

(Fethiye flotilla runs Saturday-Saturday only)

Saturday: Arrival in Fethiye. Get to know your boat and the flotilla leaders, then go shopping, and in the evening eat in one of the pleasant local restaurants.

Sunday: At 09:00 hrs a chart briefing is held in the Tamarind Restaurant, within the marina. Information will be given on the route for the week and general "dos and don'ts".

Sarsala (15 nm) is one of our favourite bays in the Fethiye Gulf, with a jetty with moorings. The restaurant is newly renovated and the jetty is new. Climb the hill for a wonderful view over the gulf. Pay cash at the restaurant. Toilets and cold shower onshore.

Monday: TombBay (4 nm), Likya Restaurant. This is one of the many lovely bays in the Fethiye Gulf that can only be reached by boat. Charming Turkish hospitality in a beautiful location. On entering the bay you will see the Lycian rock tombs. Pay cash. Toilets and showers (two inside and two outside!) onshore.

Tuesday: Karacaören (17nm) is a pleasant anchorage in a stunning location, protected by cliffs and the reef to the south. Go ashore by dinghy for dinner, where the family run restaurant is 'vintage' Turkey, and many of the dishes are prepared in a wood-burningoven. Pay cash.

Wednesday: Boynuz Bükü, (18 nm) This Fjord is covered with pine trees on its north and south slopes which makes it a very pretty bay. You can relax and enjoy a meal in the lovely gardens. Showers and toilets are available as well as water on the jetty which is supplied from the local spring.

Thursday: Tersane Island (6nm) and a family run restaurant in a natural setting, where there are numerous ruins dating from Lycian and Byzantine times. Pay cash at the restaurant. Toilets onshore.

Friday: Return to Fethiye Ece Marina (14 nm). If there are enough participants we can organise a small regatta. In the evening enjoy dinner in a nice restaurant in the bazaar. Should clients have booked a two-week flotilla holiday they will be given advice on places to visit during their free sailing days, until the flotilla is reunited at an appointed destination.

NB It is best to bring cash with you, as there are no cash machines en-route. A rough guide per couple is 600-650TL per evening meal (two meals including meze starter, a bottle of wine, water and a few beers). The more you drink the higher the bill. Eg Leona wine 200-250TL per bottle, beer 45-50TL, main meal 200-250TL per person.

The weather can be veryhot so it is a good idea to bring a rehydration formula (eg Berocca) with you, as the pharmacy closest to the marina may not be open.

Flotilla routes can be subject to change at the discretion of the flotilla leaders.
